  • Dr. James Meier, DVM
    Dr. James
    Practice Owner, Veterinarian

On a weekend camping trip at his family’s lake house, six-year old Dr. James Meier decided that he would one day become a veterinarian. The family dog, Splash, was let out to use the bathroom at night and got into a fight with another dog—he suffered severe wounds to his face, and the family feared the worst. They rushed Splash to Jimmie Davis Animal Hospital to see Dr. Gary Dupree, the clinic’s former owner. Thanks to the efforts of Dr. Dupree, Splash made a full recovery, and Dr. Meier resolved right then and there that he wanted to help others’ pets in the same way. As fate would have it, he would end up working at the clinic and has now taken over upon Dr. Dupree’s retirements as the Owner and Chief Veterinarian!

Dr. Meier is a Bossier City native and grew up just around the corner from the hospital. He earned his animal science degree with a concentration in pre-veterinary medicine from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, and then moved to the Caribbean island of Grenada to attend St. George’s University. After completing three years of veterinary schooling there, Dr. Meier moved back to his home state to complete his clinical year of training at Louisiana State University’s School of Veterinary Medicine in Baton Rouge. He passed his national and state board exams, graduated in June of 2013, and moved back to Bossier City to begin working here at Jimmie Davis Animal Hospital. The rest is history!

Medically, Dr. Meier is fond of complex internal medicine cases and putting together the puzzle pieces to form a complete picture of a patient’s health needs. He’s also fond of fixing up dirty mouths via great dental cleanings. Most of all, Dr. Meier enjoys seeing happy, healthy pets reunited with their loving owners after he and his team work their magic.

Dr. Meier’s interests outside of work include cheering on the Shreveport Mudbugs hockey team and going hunting, fishing, and camping in the great outdoors. He also loves to spend quality time with his family and pets at home. Dr. Meier and his wife, Amanda—Jimmie Davis Animal Hospital’s very own Practice Manager!—have two wonderful sons named Grayson and Sutton, and they also have two dogs: Reagan, a Rottweiler/German Shepherd/Coonhound/Stafforshire Terrier cross who was adopted during Dr. Meier’s time in Grenada; and a spunky Miniature Schnauzer named Quinn.

  • jacob
    Dr. Jacob
    Veterinarian

Veterinary medicine is woven intrinsically into Dr. Jacob Hable’s personality. Some play sports, some study mathematics, some practice instruments—Dr. Hable helps animals to live happier, healthier, and longer lives. It’s what he’s always loved, and he couldn’t be happier to continue helping pets and their owners as an Associate Veterinarian with the Jimmie Davis Animal Hospital team.

Dr. Hable is originally from Start, Louisiana, and was still in high school when he landed his first job at a veterinary hospital in Rayville. Next, he attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston to earn his Bachelor’s degree in animal science. Dr. Hable moved to the Caribbean to attend St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine on the island of Grenada in the West Indies, then completed his final clinical year at Mississippi State University’s School of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduating as a licensed veterinarian, Dr. Hable launched his veterinary career in Bossier City here at Jimmie Davis Animal Hospital and hasn’t looked back since.

As a vet, Dr. Hable’s favorite part of the job is building relationships with his patients and their loving owners. Medically, he’s fond of internal medicine cases and pathology work. Better understanding disease and illness means he can take faster and more effective steps to resolve problems!

Dr. Hable’s interests outside of animal care include video and board games, reading sci-fi and fantasy books, listening to music, relaxing with a good movie, and cooking. He lives with his roommate, Dakota, and Dakota’s two munchkin cats, Sippy and Gigi.

  • Amanda Meier
    Amanda Meier
    Office Manager

Amanda Meier met her husband, Dr. James Meier, during college at Louisiana Tech University. After living in the Caribbean for three years while Dr. Meier attended veterinary school, they returned to Louisiana to get married, moving to Bossier City shortly afterward. When the opportunity arose for Dr. Meier to purchase Jimmie Davis Animal Hospital and achieve the couple’s long-time dream of owning and operating their very own clinic, the choice was obvious. Now, Amanda gets to spend time around a team full of animal-lovers just like herself while making sure the hospital runs like a well-oiled machine—she’s the clinic’s Office Manager!

Amanda first began working at a local physical therapy office upon her and Dr. Meier’s return to Louisiana, where she would help human patients for six years. Upon her husband’s purchasing of Jimmie Davis Animal Hospital in early 2019, Amanda decided to make a transition and joined the clinic team as Office Manager. She couldn’t be happier with her choice! She especially loves interacting with the area’s pet owners and their adorable companions on a daily basis, and nothing beats seeing a patient returned to full health thanks to the efforts of the skilled hospital team.

Amanda and Dr. Meier have two sons, Grayson and Sutton, as well as a pair of canine companions named Reagan and Quinn. The entire family are huge hockey fans and make a point to attend every home game of their local junior hockey league. They even house two of the team's players during hockey season!

  • Christie Antee, RVT
    Christie Antee, RVT
    Veterinary Technician

Christie’s family always kept a pet in the house when she was growing up, and she remembers connecting with her animal companions even at a very young age. For her, providing care and comfort to those who need our help the most has always been a core part of her personality. Christie knew that a career spent helping animals through veterinary medicine would suit her perfectly!

Originally from Shreveport, Christie launched her animal-care career as a Kennel Technician at a clinic there before moving to the New Orleans area. She became a Veterinary Assistant at a local hospital, then decided to return to her hometown to take the next step. After earning her Registered Veterinary Technician’s license in 2018 after passing the Veterinary Technician’s National Exam, Christie signed on as a Tech at an emergency clinic in town before making the move into general practice. She joined the team here at Jimmie Davis Animal Hospital in July of 2020 on the recommendation of a friend and colleague, the clinic’s very own Katie. She couldn’t be happier with her choice!

Medically, Christie is fond of parasitology and loves examining samples under the microscope to find the tiny organisms that can cause our pets harm. She also likes radiology because of the way it can give her in-depth insights into a patient’s health. Above all, Christie likes knowing that the hard work put forth by her and her team members makes a lasting difference.

Away from work, Christie likes binge-watching her favorite television series and spending quality time with her family. She and her husband, Josh, have two wonderful children, Jamie and Owen, as well as two dogs. Cami is a Cairn Terrier mix who is so nurturing that she once helped care for a litter of foster kittens; Dobbie the Doberman Pinscher is one of the most docile dogs Christie has ever met despite his huge size.

  • Casey
    Casey
    Inventory Manager / Assistant

Casey has always recognized that animals can’t necessarily speak up for themselves during times of need. She wanted to do everything in her power to serve as a voice for the earth’s creatures and help them to live the happiest, healthiest lives possible. What better way to do that, she thought, than by becoming a veterinary professional? Casey’s dream has come full-circle: she’s a Veterinary Technician here at Jimmie Davis Animal Hospital and also manages the clinic’s inventory!

Casey is originally from Warner Robins, Georgia, and moved to Bossier City with her family at a young age. She’s been here ever since! Before joining the veterinary profession, she helped her father in his lawn service business and also served as a stay-at-home mother for several years. When the time came to rejoin the workforce, Casey knew that she wanted to do something she was truly passionate about. Veterinary medicine was the perfect choice! She signed on here at Jimmie Davis Animal Hospital in October of 2017 and hasn’t looked back since.

As a Tech, Casey enjoys putting together the diagnostic puzzle pieces to discover what’s ailing a pet. She’s also fond of meeting the area’s pet owners and their adorable animal companions on a daily basis.

When she’s not at the office, Casey enjoys doing yard work and spending quality time with her family. She is engaged and has three wonderful children—William, Elizabeth, and Alanna—and her fiancé has two children named Alysha and Nola. The family shares their lives with two dogs: Millie Grace, a Chihuahua/Dachshund mix who rarely leaves Casey’s side and even comes to work with her every day, and a hyperactive Pit Bull named Arrow. They also have a pair of lovable cats, Stormy and Charlie Jo.

  • Haley Dishman
    Haley Dishman
    Assistant

Haley grew up in Benton, Louisiana with her parents, two siblings, and a Yellow Labrador named Marley. She’s been around pets her entire life—it wasn’t difficult for her to fall in love with the world of animal care early on. Being a part of the reason that pets get to spend many more happy, healthy years with their families is extremely rewarding! Haley is a Veterinary Technician with the Jimmie Davis Animal Hospital team.

Haley was still in high school when she signed on as a Kennel Assistant at a local animal boarding facility. She would spend three years there, eventually helping pets hands-on as a Veterinary Assistant. Those experiences inspired Haley to attend Louisiana Tech University in Ruston to pursue her degree in animal science—she graduated in May of 2019 and moved back home to launch her career in veterinary medicine. Haley joined the team here at Jimmie Davis Animal Hospital in November of 2018 and has been a valued member of the clinic family ever since. Her favorite part of her work is the hands-on patient care aspect; she loves getting a pet to eat when they haven’t been able to for days, or helping a formerly immobile pet walk around outside. For Haley, the smallest victories often mean the most!

Haley’s interests outside of veterinary care include spending time with family and friends, traveling—she loves to find unique things in every new city she visits—and doting on her own pets at home. She has a pair of goofy cats named Jinx and Rhett who are almost never apart from one another, as well as three dogs: a Black Labrador mix named Boudreaux, the happiest and friendliest dog Haley has ever known; Dixie the mutt who accepts her role as the middle child; and a loveable Pit Bull named Lily who can often be seen at Jimmie Davis Animal Hospital’s front desk helping the receptionists and accepting any treats that happen to come her way.

  • Katie Hammett
    Katie Hammett
    Assistant

After Katie’s childhood dog has an unfortunate encounter with a car, Katie and her family feared the worst. But thanks to the efforts of the local veterinarian, their beloved pet was able to heal from a concussion and an injured paw, and went on to make a full recovery. Katie has wanted to be a veterinary professional ever since! Now, she gets to help pets every day as a Veterinary Technician here at Jimmie Davis Animal Hospital.

Katie hails from Coushatta, Louisiana and attended McNeese State University to study in the animal science department. She transferred to Louisiana Technical University, completed her degree and graduated in August of 2018, then landed her first job at a local pet clinic. Katie worked as a Veterinary Assistant there until August of 2020, when she joined the Jimmie Davis Animal Hospital team as a Technician to further expand her education and skill set in the world of animal medicine.

As a Technician, Katie has special passions for cytology and endocrinology. Beyond the scientific and medical parts of her job, though, she enjoys interacting one-on-one with pet owners and their four-legged friends—nothing beats seeing a patient leave the hospital happier and healthier than they were when they arrived.

Katie’s interests outside of animal care include fishing, riding horses, reading, cooking and baking—she was taught by her grandmother beginning at 12 years old!—and enjoying the company of her family and pets. She and her husband, Patrick, have three dogs and a cat. The canine contingent of the family includes Chief, a Rottweiler/Labrador mix whose favorite pastime is swimming; Indie the Red Merle Australian Shepherd who is deaf and responds very well to hand signals; and Scout, a Coonhound mix who never gets tired of exploring the great outdoors. The animal portion of the family is rounded out by Millie, a black cat who likes playing with her toy mice and attacking her parents’ toes.

  • Penny Prunty
    Penny Prunty
    Front Desk Coordinator

When Penny realized that she didn’t know as much as she would like to about the needs of pets, she decided to change that. She’s made it her mission ever since to help animal owners with their every need, big or small. For her, making a difference in the lives of both pets and their loving owners is a dream come true! Penny has been a member of the Jimmie Davis Animal Hospital family for more than two decades and looks forward to helping more pet owners and animal companions as time goes on.

Penny first heard about an opening at another local clinic from her sister-in-law, and she started there as a Kennel Assistant and worked her way up to a Veterinary Technician position in just a year. After three years with that clinic, Penny joined the team here at Jimmie Davis Animal Hospital on a part-time basis, filling in while another team member was on maternity leave. It wasn’t long before that role transitioned into a full-time position, and she’s been a member of the hospital family ever since.

Around the clinic, Penny enjoys educating the area’s pet owners on the best care techniques for their beloved companions. She’s also fond of spending every day around a team of animal-lovers just like herself.

Outside of work, Penny likes going to the movies, tending to her yard and flowerbeds, and spending time with friends, family, and pets. She has three rescued canine companions at home: a Dachshund named Slick, Nigel the Yorkie, and a Dachshund mix who goes by Redman.

  • Nancy Harris
    Nancy Harris
    Front Desk Coordinator

Upon finding a job posting for a part-time position at a local vet clinic while in college, Nancy decided that it would be a fun thing to try. She enjoyed the company of animals and loved talking to other people, after all. It didn’t take long for her to realize how fulfilling and rewarding the job was—Nancy fell in love right away, and she hasn’t looked back since! She’s been involved with the veterinary profession for 20 years, and couldn't be happier to continue her journey in animal care right here at Jimmie Davis Animal Hospital.

A Louisiana native, Nancy launched her journey in pet care in the spring of 2000 and has been working in pet clinics ever since. She joined the Jimmie Davis Animal Hospital team in July of 2020 and serves as a front-desk receptionist. Nancy particularly likes learning new things on an almost daily basis, interacting with the area’s loving pet owners, and doting on each and every animal visitor that walks through the clinic’s doors.

At home, Nancy has four pets. Tankford (Tank for short) is a 110-pound Doberman who loves everyone he meets; Sir Duckford the Yellow Labrador never fails to put a smile on Nancy’s face; and Arlo the Chihuahua mix is 10 pounds of pure personality. The animal contingent of the family is completed by Tom, a loveable cat who truly runs the show.
